Umbraco MVP 2017

I can’t really believe I am writing this, but I am one of Umbraco’s MVPs 2017!

The awards are handed out during the keynote at Codegarden each year for various categories. This year: Core, Community and Our. My award was for community involvement, in particular our Glasgow Umbraco meetup: GLUUG. I do set myself targets and goals of things I would like to work towards but this was never even on my radar as something I could consider achieving!

I would never have thought when I attended Codegarden 2016 that I would be there giving a talk, nevermind getting an award. To say I was shocked when I found out would be an understatement.

You can see the keynote here , the MVPs are awarded quite near the start but y’all should watch the whole thing to see what’s happening in Umbraco. Massive well done to the other MVPs , I can’t quite believe I am lucky enough to be on a list with these awesome people in such a lovely community.

If anyone reading this is wondering if they should take the step to get involved in open source software, just do it. A year ago I had never attended the conference, organised a meetup, written a technical blog, submitted a pull request to OSS or done public speaking. So, just take the step and give it a chance, you never know where you might be in a year!
