Developer Diary: October 2019

31/10/2019 umbraco meetups

Well, what a busy month October was. The fact I am only just writing up this blog post a week in to November shows how much recovery was needed! Infact, I can't even find many words, so this month will be mostly photos!

HacktoberFest

In what is becoming a yearly tradition, I contributed to #hacktoberfest, a month long celebration of open source software where developers around the world contribute to projects. I managed 30 PRs! It started off with a goal of making documentation and code repos more inclusive: removing references to "he" in developer docs for example.

DUUGFest

I visited Utrecht for DUUGFest where I was speaking about Umbraco and Blazor. An amazing conference with so many great talks (and a donut wall for breakfast!).

Meetups

Both  meetups I organise: Glasgow Umbraco and Ladies of Code Glasgow were Hacktoberfest themed. It was so awesome to see so many people get their first PRs!

SWiT Awards

It's that time of year again, for the Scotland Women in Tech (SWiT)awards awards! I have been lucky enough to have attended in it's previous 2 years and it just seems to get bigger and better. I was honoured to be nominated for Gender Diversity Champion in a amazing group of nominees.

Well done to all the winners and the organisers!

Hopefully I will have more energy to write more next month!
